We’ve designed six sessions for each year group (one to six) and the content gets more sophisticated as each year goes by. Each session lasts for one hour. The bulk of the time digs into the food theory. Then as a final flourish you can add in one of our learning activities, like a fun game or some food tasting.
Tapping into a range of curriculums, kids will explore the different nutrients, start building their own balanced diet, and identify which foods to stay away from. Or at the very least, eat sparingly (we can’t be perfect can we!).
Your school can choose from one of the following options:
Face-to-face: We’ll come in and deliver the programme for you. Just let us know how you’d like to fit our sessions around your school day and we’ll get started.
Virtual: When we can’t get out to you, we can upskill three members of your staff virtually. You’ll have access to all of the lesson plans, resources on our website, and ongoing support from our team. And, you’ll get access to an exclusive forum where you can connect and learn with other schools.
Bit of both: This is the stripped back version. We’ll still train up your staff, you just don’t get all the ongoing support and added resources.
Please note that ‘Face-to-face’ and ‘Bit of both’ are only available to schools in South East London.
How does it work?
In year one, your teachers get access to all of our lesson plans and resources through our website. At a time that suits you, we’ll then train up three members of your staff over live video calls. This takes about three hours, and they can choose to do it all at once or in more bite-sized chunks. They’ll also get monthly check-ins to ask any questions throughout the first year.
How much does it cost?
We’ve tried to price the programme as fairly as possible. In year one, we charge £240 for the staff training plus £40 per class that will use the programme. So, if you’re a one form entry infant school, it’ll cost you £480 (£240 training and £240 for 6 classes). If you don’t need us to train anyone else up after the first year, we can reduce the price of your subscription by 25% in year two.
What else comes with it?
Your teachers get access to unlimited Q&A and a forum for you to connect and learn from other schools. We’ll also help you set up extra workshops to include the family and give you a Food Changers certificate to put towards other accreditations.
What are the benefits?
Other than drawing on the Ofsted framework on Personal Development, our lesson plans are linked to curriculums in Science, Maths, English, D+T, PSHE, and Health Education. We even include the Core Food Competencies set out by the British Nutrition Foundation and Food Standards Agency.
