Cooking with Scouts

On Thursday 12th and 19th September we were invited to deliver some cooking sessions to a local Bexley Scouts group. On the day we made fruit kebabs and sourced the ingredients from Lewisham market and a local greengrocer. We did not want to purchase foods from the supermarkets as the majority of the fruits used like apples, strawberries and grapes are sold in plastic containers. The children loves making the kebabs, some having over 7 different fruits on each kebab and a rainbow of colours. We will be back with the Scouts group in November where we will be delivering a healthy eating workshop that involves designing healthy packed lunches, calculating sugar in foods and reading food labels. All of this work is part of the children’s ‘Chef’ badge.
